NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — Skunk lovers will be gathering in North Ridgeville for the 23rd annual "Skunkfest" on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The event will take place rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at South Central Park.
Organizers describe the event as "a friendly gathering for skunk lovers & skunk owners from everywhere to share some fun and discussions about skunks. All Skunks welcome although you do not need to be a skunk owner to attend!"
There will be games, raffles, a DJ, and food tent for humans, while the skunks in attendance will be vying for awards such as "Skunkfest King and Queen" and "Skunkfest Prince and Princess." The event will also feature contests for dressing up your skunk in costume, the most talented skunk, best detective skunk, and much more.
Skunk entry fee at the door for contests is $10 for 1 skunk, $5 for each additional skunk. Humans are asked to bring a cash donation, or a donation of either paper towels or natural grain cereal.
Organizers say skunks need to be carried, on a leash, or in a carrier at all times. Attendees are also asked to not touch other people's skunks.
