The Avon Heritage Festival Committee, the City of Avon and Duck brand have decided to cancel the 2021 Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival.
"The health and wellbeing of our entire community remains a top priority in planning the Avon Heritage Duck Tape® Festival – including that of our guests, volunteers, staff and more," the company said in a release.
"While we recognize and appreciate Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s recent guidance to allow similar festival-style events and fairs in Ohio starting in June, we feel it important to maintain our caution for the safety of our community."
Even though the festival was canceled, Duck Tape announced the return of another event this summer.
The "Duck Tape Sculpture Scavenger Hunt" is a free, city-wide event which offers the "opportunity to showcase the extraordinary, larger-than-life duct tape sculptures crafted by the Art Academy of Cincinnati artists," according to a release.
Duck Tape says the scavenger hunt event will allow everyone to continue practicing social distancing, while still enjoying the scavenger hunt in the city.
The Duck Tape Festival was also canceled last year, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Duck Tape's world headquarters is located in Avon, Ohio.
No date for the scavenger hunt has been announced.
