Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Lorain County

The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

ELYRIA, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a 24-year-old man was killed in a fatal crash in Lorain County.

OSHP officials say the one-car crash happened on Saturday at around 9:58 p.m. on Albrecht Road in New Russia Township.

A 2013 Mercedes-Benz went off the left side of the road, striking a ditch and overturning multiple times. The driver, 24-year-old Caleb Hughley of Oberlin, was not wearing a seat belt when the crash happened and was ejected from the vehicle. Hughley sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

EMS took a 23-year-old passenger from Elyria to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center with minor injuries. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the crash scene by the Lorain County Sheriff's Office, Central Lorain County EMS, South Amherst Fire Department, Lorain County Coroner's Office and Vaughn's Towing.
