LORAIN, Ohio — A suspect in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy at a Lorain Park Saturday has been arrested.
Edward Stokes Jr., 25, was taken into custody early Monday morning by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. He was arrested without incident in Parma.
Officials responded to Oakwood Park around 7:45 p.m. Saturday for reports of a shooting. At the scene, the victim was found near the basketball court suffering two gunshot wounds.
The boy was treated by police and Life Care Rescue before being transported to Lorain Mercy Hospital and then MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland where he later died.
The details of the shooting or a possible motive have not yet been released. The shooting remains under investigation, as the department still "needs help from the public to bring justice to the victim and his family," police said in a release.
Stokes Jr. could face additional charges, along with anyone else that may have interfered with the investigation, police report.
