Teen in custody after shots fired outside Lorain High School; lockdown lifted

The lockdown has been lifted.

LORAIN -- A 17-year-old is in custody after he allegedly fired shots outside Lorain High School Wednesday afternoon.

The high school was placed on lockdown following a report of shots fired outside the building. Lorain School Board President Tony Dimacchia says at least three shots were fired.

The lockdown has since been lifted. Lockdowns on Washington Elementary, Frank Jacinto Elementary and General Johnnie Wilson Middle School have also been lifted.

The teen fled to the area of W. 24th Street, where police took him into custody. Officers found a gun in his possession.

The district says buses may be 30 minutes late in dropping off students.
