AVON, Ohio — The City of Avon has confirmed to 3News that a plan for a new TopGolf location in Northeast Ohio has been approved.
The two-story facility with 60 bays on Chester Road in Avon was approved at Wednesday night's planning commission meeting.
Officials say that the Avon location will be "more family-oriented and less corporate-focused." It will also feature a restaurant, bar and outdoor patio.
At the meeting, officials said that the new location will hire 200-250 employees and create roughly 150 construction jobs.
"We are excited we were chosen for this new site and look forward to having it available to our residents and surrounding communities," said the City of Avon's Director of Economic Development and Planning Pam Fechter.
TopGolf features golf games using microchipped balls that instantly score themselves, showing players the accuracy and distance of their shots on a TV screen in a hitting bay. Hitting bays are climate-controlled, meaning the Northeast Ohio snow won't stop guests from enjoying themselves year-round.
TopGolf in Avon will become the second Northeast Ohio location. TopGolf in Independence previously opened in December 2019, which brought nearly 500 jobs to Northeast Ohio. Additionally, TopGolf has locations in both Columbus and Cincinnati.
