Suspect uses purse to steal ferret from Elyria pet store

Sounds like a hairy situation.

Surveillance footage from an Elyria pet store showed a suspect place a ferret in her purse before leaving without paying.

According to a police report, the theft occurred Tuesday at Best In Pets on Abbe Road.

A manager told police a male and female entered the store just after 1 p.m. and browsed around the store for several minutes. Their potential ages were not provided in the report.

The pair stopped at a bin containing ferrets and the male picked one up. With the male standing right beside her, the female placed the tan ferret inside her purse.

The pair remained in the store for another five minutes before leaving in a silver car, possibly a Buick Regal.

According to the report, the ferret was valued at $150.

NOTE: The ferret in the stock photo above is not the actual ferret involved in the theft.
