Learn how to create your own Pinterest-worthy Thanksgiving

CLEVELAND —

Pinterest makes it look easy to create a picture-picture holiday table with its boards of incredible do-it-yourself projects, but in reality those setups can be tough to carry out on your own.

Thankfully, your Thanksgiving attempt at a gorgeous dinner table doesn’t have to turn into a complete fail.

On Lunch Break with Jay Crawford, Jay and 3News' Romney Smith learned how easy it is to incorporate style onto your table setting this holiday season.

Chef Tom Makar and vice president Melissa Marik of Executive Caterers at Landerhaven stopped by the studio to show the simplicity of making your table and plate look beautiful with three different options.

Marik said: “When you’re going for a look for your table, try to pull from different colors from you centerpiece, from your tableware [like your charger plates and napkins] and then also from the food itself.”

Food can be incorporated into your table design, too. Using apples as candle holders add a touch of appetizing class to your table.

Also, take a note from your layered wardrobe and layer your plates this Thanksgiving for each course. Marik says that some etiquette says to remove the charger plate after the salad, but she likes to keep it on the table for its look.

Makar gave some options for bring color to your food options. “You eat with your eyes as well as your mouth,” he said. Makar recommended a vegetarian option with a cauliflower steak with tomato.

And don't forget about dessert! Executive Caterers at Landerhaven have their own in-house pastry chef who creates everything from cinnamon rolls to wedding cakes. On Lunch Break, they paired a personal pumpkin pie with one of the table settings.
