Lunch Break with Jay Crawford: Find out how to check which apps are tracking your location on your smart phone

Apps on our smart phones can figure out your name, cell phone number, email and your exact location even if you haven't entered that information.

CLEVELAND — We all know that the apps we use on our smart phones are collecting data about us by now, but just how much they can figure out when you log in might surprise you.

On Thursday’s Lunch Break with Jay Crawford, Jay lunched with Maureen Kyle and the two chatted about privacy concerns over names, phone numbers, emails and even your exact location being shared by apps you use.

Digital Anchor Stephanie Haney showed us how to do a quick check to see at least which apps are accessing your location and when, and how to change those settings if you’ve opted into something you no longer want to be a part of.

Watch the video to see what Jay and Maureen had to say about these privacy concerns.

Join us in the conversation on your lunch break live on Facebook, YouTube, WKYC.com, our 3News app and on the air on Channel 3 Monday through Friday at 12:30 p.m., beginning Oct. 7.
