Reaction to Myles Garrett ripping off Mason Rudolph's helmet and hitting him in the head with it on today's Lunch Break with Jay Crawford

Garrett said: "I made a mistake and I lost my cool and I regret it."

CLEVELAND — On Friday’s Lunch Break with Jay Crawford, we’re addressing the moment Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett ripping the helmet off of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, winding up and smashing it into his head.

Standing at his locker after the game, Garrett said: "I made a mistake and I lost my cool and I regret it."

He added: "It's going to come back to hurt our team, the guys who jumped in the scrum. I appreciate my team having my back, but it shouldn't have ever gotten to that point. That's on me."

Asked what led to such a violent outburst, the No. 1 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft declined to get into specifics.

"You just gotta go look at it," Garrett answered when asked if Rudolph said something to him to set him off. "I'm not going to comment on it."

The on-field brawl follows the Browns’ release of Jermaine Whitehead for tweeting racist, violent threats at radio host Dustin Fox and even more recently, the waiver of Antonio Calloway on Thursday after a failed drug test and showing up late for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

While the NFL has not yet officially reacted to what happened between Garrett and Rudolph, people are offering lots of opinions on what kind of penalty Garrett should face. Weigh in with your thoughts at wkyc.com/votenow on where he should get no suspension with a big fine, a 2-game suspension, to be forced to sit out for the rest of the season or an 8-game suspension.
