LAKEWOOD, Ohio — The popular Lakewood bowling alley and bar Mahall's is turning to the public for help to keep its doors open.
A Kickstarter campaign titled 'Mahall's BACK TO TOGETHER' was started by co-owner Kelly Flamos with a goal of raising $15,000 in 30 days. As of late Monday, $4,950 have been raised so far.
The campaign is an "All or nothing" campaign, meaning the project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Wednesday, September 23 at 4:18 p.m. Donors can choose a reward for contributing including a VIP themed date night, exclusive membership, t-shirts and more.
"Mahall's is many things to many people: a place to eat, drink, dance, perform, get married, bowl, take a trip down memory lane, see live music, catch an improv show, dance tango, celebrate a birthday, hear a poetry reading, screen a movie, shoot a film, pose for photos, see great art, ring in the new year," the campaign description reads. "The list goes on. The bottom line: Mahall's is a place for EVERYONE to enjoy art, music, bowling and community."
Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mahall's closed their doors for the first time in 96 years in March. "We want to carry Mahall's through this pandemic to her 100th birthday in 2024, and we need your help," the post continues.
With the help of the Kickstarter campaign, the owners are looking to be able to re-open the doors safely at a reduced capacity and continue to bring innovative creative programming to the community.
