MANSFIELD, Ohio — Despite the successful execution of peaceful protests in many areas throughout Northeast Ohio this week, the Mansfield Police Department is issuing a warning against violence ahead of planned protest in the city Friday.

The department says it was contacted by several concerned citizens after social media posts encouraging violence were circulated online.

"By all indications, the intent is for violence and destruction and there is NO indication of this being a peaceful protest," police said in statement Thursday.

The department reiterated that it does not condone violence or rioting and will respond to violators appropriately and according to law.
