Bullet found on Medina elementary school bus, superintendent reports

Medina Superintendent Aaron Sable said the bullet was discovered by the bus driver 'during routine cleaning.' Police are 'actively involved' in the investigation.

MEDINA, Ohio — The superintendent of Medina City Schools says a bullet was found inside one of the district's elementary school buses on Thursday afternoon.

In a letter sent to district parents, Superintendent Aaron Sable said the bullet was discovered by the bus driver "during routine cleaning following an elementary school bus run."

According to Sable, the driver reported the discovery to "the proper authorities" and all students who were on the bus at the time were searched. Nothing further was found.

"Out of an abundance of caution, a police officer rode the bus home with students this (Thursday) afternoon. At this time, no threats have been received, and there are no active threats to our schools. We want to reassure you that the safety of our students remains our top priority. Families of the students who ride the bus, as well as those at the involved elementary school, have been notified directly," Sable stated.

Medina police are "actively involved in the investigation," he added.

In the meantime, parents and students are encouraged to report anything that appears to be unusual. Information can be shared to the district anonymously by clicking here.
