MEDINA, Ohio — Halloween is still a few months away, but horror fans are getting an early taste of the spooky season as Northeast Ohio gets a visit from Ari Lehman, the actor who was the first to portray Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th series.
The meet-and-greet event is taking place Monday (August 22) with Operation Fandom at 10 Public Square in Medina from 5-7 p.m. Fans can get autographs and take selfies with Lehman for a combo price of $40.
Lehman is also part of a heavy metal band appropriately known as First Jason, which is set to perform in Akron at the Rialto Theatre on Kenmore Boulevard at 7 p.m. Tuesday (August 23).

Lehman was the child actor under the makeup during that unforgettable jump-scare finale at Camp Crystal Lake as his character pulls Alice into the water at the end of the original Friday the 13th in 1980.
The Jason Voorhees character, who is best-known for wearing his hockey mask, went on to become the focus of multiple sequels within the Friday the 13th franchise.
Medina isn’t new to the horror movie scene as it previously played host to the production of 2014’s Fear Clinic movie, which starred Robert Englund – the actor best known for his role as Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare On Elm Street.
