Teen dies in apparent accidental shooting in Hinckley

"At this time, the inital investigation indicates this was sadly a tragic accident."

HINCKLEY, Ohio — Police in Hinckley are investigating an incident involving a 13-year-old boy who suffered a fatal gunshot wound on Saturday night in what appears to be an accidental shooting.

According to Chief David Centner, officers were called to a home on River Road around 8:30 p.m. They found the 13-year-old had suffered a gunshot wound. The teen was taken first to Cleveland Clinic Brunswick Hospital, then taken by Life Fight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he passed away from his injuries.

Center says while the incident is being reviewed, "at this time, the inital investigation indicates this was sadly a tragic accident." He adds that until the investigation is completed and out of respect for the family, no further information will be released.
