MEDINA, Ohio — The church bells were ringing at St. Francis Xavier Church in Medina.
It was a beautiful night for a parade. The reason? To support a little girl battling a rare form of cancer. Her name is Lexi.
"We wanted just to show her the love of her parish family, her community, all of her friends and family lined along the parade route," Jennifer Webb, director of ministry and communication at St. Francis Xavier, said.
The messages were simple and from the heart.
"I just really hope she gets better and just keep[s] pushing through," Piper McElroy declared.
"Stay strong," Essalyn Stevenson added. "And, oh, I hope you feel better and we can always hope for the best."
"We're all praying for you, Lexi, every day, and we really, really hope you get better," Cecelia Young said. "We all love you so much."
Lexi is returning home after a seven-week clinical trial in Seattle. As her police and fire engine escort approached, cheers erupted, all for a young lady battling for her life.
"Whenever I feel supported, I always feel so good and well-loved," Sophia Brauser told us. "Right now, I want to make her feel just exactly how she makes me feel."
"It's really amazing to see all these people here supporting her in her tough journey," Cecelia noted.
When times are tough, communities come together. Welcome home, Lexi.
