The Brunswick Police Department is investigating a bomb threat made against Memorial Elementary School on Monday.
Officials say all students and staff were evacuated safely and a search of the school and surrounding area was conducted. No suspicious objects or devices were found.
The phone call making the threat appeared to be computer generated and originated from an internet phone number. Police investigators report that the circumstances were similar to two bomb threats that have been called into Brunswick Middle School since early February.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing and the department is working with local and federal law enforcement partners. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brunswick Police Detective Bureau at 330-225-9111.
As a result of the threat, the school building remained closed for the duration of the day as officials continue their investigation.
Parents and guardians were made aware of the situation and instructions on when, where and how to pick-up their children were sent out through phone calls and emails.
This is a developing story. Stay with 3News for updates as they become available.
Earlier this year, two bomb threats were reported at nearby Brunswick Middle School. One incident happened in February and another one took place earlier this month.
