Semi hauling dirt overturns in Medina County

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — Some drivers in Medina County were facing an unexpected detour after a semi crash caused the closure of the exit ramps from I-71 North / South to US 224 West late Thursday morning.

ODOT's traffic map shows the crash has since been cleared.

“Crews are working to get the semi moved so motorists stuck on the ramps can get through,” according to ODOT’s social media shortly after the crash.. “Please be patient and avoid the area.”

ODOT says drivers were being detoured via I-76 East to state Route 3 and back to I-76 West to US 224 West.

“Please use caution while driving in the area,” ODOT asked.

Sgt. Bridget Matt of the Ohio State Highway Patrol tells 3News the crash happened around 9:39 a.m. as the truck was hauling dirt.

No additional details were immediately available.
