Wreaths Across America hoping to place 30,000 wreaths at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery gravesites

The organization wants to raise enough money to honor each and every veteran buried at the Medina County cemetery.

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — Wreaths Across America is an organization that started with a man laying extra wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery and has now spread across the country. Now, one area chapter is hoping to honor 30,000 local Veterans.

The Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville is a solemn place where veterans from across Northeast Ohio are laid to rest. When the holidays come around, Wreaths Across America spends countless hours to make it even more special.

"We would like it so that when someone comes to their family's grave, all of them are covered," Dona Stein, co-coordinator of Wreaths Across America's "Wreaths for Western Reserve" chapter, said. "That they don't have to walk away saying 'Well, my family member did not get a wreath this year.'"

Stein and others are hoping to raise enough money to put out 30,000 wreaths and honor each and every one of the veterans laid to rest at the cemetery.

"Most of our wreaths are sponsored between now and Giving Tuesday, which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving," Stein added. "We would like to see this whole cemetery covered. We're going to do our best, but we could certainly use more help."

If you are interested in helping donate wreaths or volunteering your time, the link is here. Right now, for every two wreaths donated by the public, Wreaths Across America receives a third wreath for free.
