MENTOR, Ohio — Editor's note: the video in the player above is from a story published on November 16, 2020.
The Mentor Police Department is once again collecting donations for their annual "Fill a Cruiser" food-drive event.
This year, the food-drive will take place on November 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Giant Eagle in Mentor, located at 8383 Tyler Blvd.
The city will be collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations to disperse to local food banks within the city.
In an effort to stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), this year, mask-wearing and social-distancing measures will be required at the drive.
In a release sent to 3News, the city said that to date, 17 police vehicles have been filled with food donations over the years. The events have raised more than $13,000 in the past, as well.
Last year's food drive filled three police cruisers and raised over $2,000.
A recent study from WalletHub recently found Ohio to be the fifth most charitable state in the U.S., and the third-highest state in terms of donating food to those in need.
