CLEVELAND — Have leftover medications laying around? The Cleveland Clinic has a solution.
On Saturday, October 24, the Cleveland Clinic is encouraging you to safely get rid of your extra medications as part of National Drug Take-Back Day.
This year, the Clinic is pushing for more people to turn in their unused medications amid the ongoing opioid crisis, as well as a recent overdose alert from Cuyahoga County.
According to the Clinic, in 2018, their pharmacies collected 1,014 pounds of unused medications, and that number more than doubled in 2019 with a whopping 2,743 pounds. As of the second quarter of 2020, Clinic pharmacies collected 1,686 pounds of leftover medications, on track to exceed the 2019 total.
For those interested in safely disposing of their leftover medication, there are 14 Clinic locations including their family health centers, main campus, and regional hospitals, as well as other local locations such as police stations, firehouses, and pharmacies.
