FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio — Detectives with the Fairview Park Police Department are investigating after finding a teenager shot Wednesday afternoon.
According to Fairview Park officials, police were called to the 4500 block of West 221 Street around 12:10 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of a person who had been shot.
Upon arrival, investigators located a 17-year-old boy inside of a home with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The teenager, whose identity has not been released, was transported immediately to Fairview General Hospital. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
A preliminary investigation found that the victim had reached out to friends to report the incident and that his friends were the ones who called 911 for help.
"We are currently processing the scene for evidence to determine how the shooting happened and who, if anyone else, was involved. There appears to be no threat to the public," Fairview Park Police officials said in a release Wednesday afternoon.
No other information is available at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
