CLEVELAND — Two people were transported to a hospital after sustaining injuries a "serious" six-car crash in Erie County Friday evening, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened on Perkins Avenue near the intersection of Hayes Avenue in Perkins Township just before 8:15 p.m., the highway patrol said in a release. While troopers are still investigating, alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The collisions started when a Cadillac ATS driven westbound by a 38-year-old Sandusky woman hit the back of a Toyota Tacoma driven by a California man. After the initial crash, the Sandusky woman then continued westbound, veered into the center and hit a Ford driven by a Sandusky 21-year-old.

The 38-year-old's Cadillac then spun into a car driven by a Mansfield resident, while the 21-year-old's car caromed into cars driven by an 80-year-old Huron resident and a 32-year-old Castalia resident.

The 38-year-old and 21-year-old Sandusky residents were taken to Firelands Hospital for treatment.
