ASHLAND, Ohio — The Ashland County Sheriff's Office says three people are in custody after a 6-year-old boy was attacked by a dog this past weekend in the village of Savannah.
According to a release attributed to Sheriff E. Wayne Risner and Deputy Sheriff David Blake, the incident occurred late Saturday afternoon at a house on Chapel Street. A 911 caller told dispatchers a pit bull had bitten the child on the neck and ear, and by the time deputies arrived he was described as being in serious condition. He was eventually airlifted to an area hospital.
At the home with the boy was his mother, Cleveland native Angelina Williams. Authorities say Williams had been living at the home with a family member of Robert Michalski, who owns both the property and the dog but had purportedly left with the pit bull before police arrived.
Per officials, detectives learned Monday that the child "had been restrained with handcuffs on his hands and feet" before the pit bull attacked and bit him. Investigators then searched the home, where they say they found both Michalski and the dog hiding in an upstairs cubby hole.
Both Michalski and Williams were apprehended and taken to the Ashland County Jail. In addition, Williams' boyfriend Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown was taken into custody after deputies claim he "assisted with the restraining of the 6-year-old."
The investigation into the matter remains ongoing. The sheriff's office says the pit bull was also captured and will be classified as a "vicious dog."
