OHIO, USA — If you’re ready to have some fall fun there are a few options to consider.
Mapleside Farms Pumpkin Village kicks off this weekend with corn mazes, hayrides (with plexiglass separating families) and a super slide, according to the website. “In the Fall we really come alive,” explains Marketing Director Jason Kolodziej.
The property located in Brunswick, is a hundred acres yet capacity has been lowered to prevent crowding.
“We have acres and acres of land, it’s open land so while we have some of our shops and some enclosed buildings a lot of our attractions take place outside,” he says. “We can still hold a lot of people again, it’s a hundred acres of fall family fun so we hold a lot of people, we just want to really avoid that overcrowding of people and we want people to feel safe and their families safe as well.”
Masks aren’t required but they are recommended especially in areas where it’s difficult to socially distance. Mapleside has an eleven step safety plan called the ‘Play Safe Initiative’ that focuses on cleaning, employee temperature checks and more.
Patterson Fruit Farm in Chesterland is busy as people pick their fall favorites like apples or pumpkins. Limited tickets are available and they’ve suspended some attractions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another option is a self-guided historic tour of Cleveland.
“Getting out and walking around and being outside is the best thing to do, I mean you want to be safe,” explains Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corp Executive Director, Tom Yablonsky. “You’re very safe on these tours, that’s why we made them self-guided and don’t include the usual large crowds we had in other years.”
Take A Hike allows tourists to use the website on a mobile device, to navigate through tours and be guided by actors and actresses portraying historic figures, along the route.
When it comes to COVID-19 safety, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Dr. Amy Edwards tells 3News, "The goal is to always keep the risk as low as possible, so an outside venue, without a lot of people around and everyone wearing masks is about as safe as you can possibly be without locking yourself in your house," she writes.
"We should all take advantage of this wonderful fall weather to go outdoors and have fun in a safe and responsible way. We all know winter is coming and things will get harder, so get out while you can!"
