MANSFIELD, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a two-vehicle crash sent three adults and two juveniles to the hospital in Richland County.
Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say the crash happened early Sunday at 12:49 a.m. in Worthington Township on State Route 97.
Preliminary investigation shows that a 2022 Kia Forte was driving southwest on State Route 97 when it went left of center, striking a GMC Savana that was driving north on State Route 97.
The driver and a juvenile passenger of the Kia were taken by EMS to Ohio Health Mansfield with serious injuries. The driver of the GMC was taken by life flight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries. Additionally, two passengers were taken to Ohio Health Mansfield, one adult with serious injuries and a juvenile with minor injuries.
Troopers say that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
The Worthington Township, Washington Township, Fredericktown, and Perrysville EMS, as well as Westside and Ronks Towing, assisted on the scene.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
