CLEVELAND — Just in time for the holiday season, Amazon has announced same-day delivery for residents in the Cleveland area.
According to officials, Prime members will now be able to receive their packages for more than three million items in as quick as five hours.
On Friday, Amazon also announced a new mini-fulfillment center based in Middleburg Heights that will be used to hold popular and in-demand items.
With the new fulfillment center, Amazon has also hired hundreds of Northeast Ohioans to work inside to pack and ship orders, as well as delivery drivers.
"The faster delivery speeds enabled by these facilities help lower carbon emissions in line with Amazon’s Climate Pledge to be net zero carbon by 2040," said company officials on Friday. "10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. These new facilities are located close to the cities they serve, which decreases the distance drivers have to travel to deliver packages to customers."
