41-year-old Ashland man found dead in vacant home

At this time no suspects have been arrested.

ASHLAND, Ohio — An investigation is underway after the a missing man was found dead inside of a vacant home in Ashland County on Friday afternoon.

After receiving a call from a female, whose connection to the victim has not been identified, officials from the Ashland County Sheriff's Office executed a search for a missing man inside a vacant home on Township Road 851.

Officials say that upon searching the home, a man was found dead with wounds from a weapon on the second floor of the home in a master bedroom. 

The victim, who has been identified as 41-year-old Kurtis Harstine "had been deceased for some time," according to officials.

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the Ashland Police Department, The Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the Ashland County Coroner. 

Ashland County Sheriff's Office told 3News that at this time no arrests have been made and that they are searching for the suspect. 

The homicide investigation remains ongoing and an autopsy is being completed in Lucas County.
