Illuminating Company, Westlake Fire respond after woman attempts to drive over fallen tree and downed power lines

Power is currently out for residents in the area.

WESTLAKE, Ohio — FirstEnergy crews and members with the Westlake Fire Department reported to a scene on Dover Center Road about a quarter-mile to the Bay Village border on Wednesday evening after a woman attempted to drive over downed power lines and a tree limb. 

3News' Monica Robins spoke with Westlake Fire officials on the scene who said that a tree limb fell and took out power lines, and that the woman's car got stuck over the live power lines.

The Illuminating Company showed up late Wednesday and shut down power to the area in order to safely remove the woman from her car. 

3News' Monica Robins was on the scene Wednesday evening and spoke with one resident who witnessed the event. You can watch her interview in the player below:

Police officials closed off northbound Dover Center Road in Westlake is closed just north of Detroit Road. 

A spokesperson with The Illuminating Company tells 3News that they expect power to be restored to nearby homes by 11:30 p.m. 

No other information is available at this time.
