Shooting suspect who was shot by Euclid police officers appears in court, bond set at $500,000

Euclid police previously told 3News that Eric Parham has an 'extensive criminal history.'

CLEVELAND — Eric Parham, a shooting suspect who was shot by Euclid police following an incident last month, appeared in court on Wednesday morning for an arraignment hearing in which he pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder and felonious assault.

In addition, the judge set his bond at $500,000 and gave him a no-contact order, GPS monitoring and no-weapons order if bail is posted.

The incident dates back to May 22, when a man allegedly shot a woman at Sims Park in Euclid. Police then identified Parham as the suspect, who they located behind Maria's Family Restaurant. When officers encountered Parham, they "repeatedly" ordered him to lie on the ground, but police stated that he began walking backward and away from them.

Euclid police then stated that Parham allegedly "turned and reached for a handgun in his waistband" in front of officers. He was shot by police and fell to the ground.

Parham was then taken into custody and provided medical aid. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment and then taken to the Cuyahoga County Jail.

A 9mm semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene of the arrest, according to Euclid police.

The 39-year-old suspect is facing the following charges:

  • Attempted murder (3 counts)
  • Felonious assault (4 counts)
  • Having weapons under disability (4 counts)

Euclid police previously told 3News that Parham has an "extensive criminal history."

The 42-year-old woman who Parham allegedly shot was taken to an area hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Euclid police say Parham had been wanted for felonious assault on the same woman in an incident on May 17 that also included the firing of gunshots.
