CLEVELAND — A Holmes County senior living community was temporarily evacuated Friday morning after the facility received a bomb threat, authorities said.
According to the Holmes County Sheriff's Office, an employee at Walnut Hills Retirement Community in Walnut Creek received the bomb threat via a phone call just before 10 a.m. Friday.
"The threat was specific to time/day of detonation, but not to a device location," the sheriff's office said in a social media post.
Authorities say the Walnut Hills staff immediately began to evacuate residents from both of its buildings before deputies arrived at the facility.
"The residents of both facilities were evacuated for a period of time while deputies, fire and EMS personnel secured and searched the facilities for any potential threats," the sheriff's office said.
During the evacuation, all residents were under the care of Walnut Hills staff. The sheriff's office said EMS personnel examined two residents for "minor medical complaints" during the evacuation.
Authorities eventually cleared and secured both buildings and residents and staff returned to the facility.
The bomb threat remains under investigation by sheriff's deputies.
