CLEVELAND — The Hooley House is looking to make a bad situation even just a little bit better.
"This wasn't for recognition, it's just what we felt was the right thing to do," said Richie Reece, a spokesperson for the Hooley House told 3News.
The restaurant chain is giving away $10 gift cards to high school seniors from Akron Copley, Brooklyn, Lake Catholic, Mentor, Richfield Revere, and Westlake high schools as a graduation gift, even if they aren't officially able to walk the stage due to stay-at-home orders.
The News-Herald is reporting an estimated $15,000 in gift cards being handed out for free through this program.
"When I heard that school was canceled for the year, I started thinking about how tough that would be...no prom, no graduation, no senior night for sports and events, no proper goodbyes," said Reece, "Pretty brutal during a very memorable time in their lives. We decided that we wanted to buy dinner for each one as congrats and a pick me up, so we reached out to the schools and donated the gift cards!"
