Killbuck Township Fire Chief Scott Kashuba killed in traffic accident while on vacation

Kashuba served the Killbuck Township community as part of the fire department and EMS for 22 years.

HOLMES COUNTY, Ohio — Killbuck Township Fire & EMS announced the tragic death of Fire Chief Scott Kashuba on their Facebook account on Tuesday.

According to the post, Kashuba was killed in a traffic accident while on vacation in South Dakota. The department say they are considering this an active duty death. 

Kashuba served in various roles during his 22-year career in the department including level one and two volunteer firefighter, EMT/advanced EMT, fire inspector and fire instructor along with his final role as fire chief.

The statement below is an excerpt from their social media post:

"This loss is immeasurable and the community will certainly be at a loss because of it. We would like to thank Scott’s family for all of the missed birthdays and holidays and dinners so that he may answer the call for others. Thank you Chief! There will never be another like you Sir. Rest easy, we've got the watch from here."
