LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Lakewood police are investigating after a man allegedly shot a woman before killing himself on Monday morning.
According to police, they received a call at around 7:54 a.m. for two people arguing on Chase Avenue between Merl Avenue and Clifton Boulevard.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found a dead man on the sidewalk and a woman with a gunshot wound.
Police told 3News that they believe the suspect shot and killed himself after shooting the woman.
In addition, a priest from St. Luke the Evangelist told 3News that the two people involved were associated with the Clifton Early Learning Center, which has closed for the day due to the shooting.
Lakewood Fire Department personnel administered first aid to the woman, who was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. Police say her wounds "are considered serious."
At this time, it is unclear what led up to the shooting. Officials noted that the individuals involved knew each other.
