Man dies after fire at River Hill Condo in Rocky River

According to the Rocky River Fire Department, displaced residents were assisted by the Red Cross.

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — A man has died following a fire at the River Hill Condominium in Rocky River, which happened at 4:17 p.m. Thursday.

Upon arriving on the scene in the 20300 block of Detroit Road, medics with the Lakewood Fire Department transported a middle-aged man from the apartment to Fairview General Hospital, where he later died. The victim's name and age have not been released.

According to the Rocky River Fire Department, displaced residents were assisted by the Red Cross.

Crews from Fairview Park, Westlake, Bay Village and Lakewood all assisted Rocky River on the scene.

The apartment fire was under control by 4:42 p.m. and was contained to one unit.

One firefighter was treated and released at the Lakewood emergency room for an undisclosed injury. 

EMS officials also treated one police officer and one civilian, who were both released on the scene.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal's office. There has been no damage estimate released yet.
