Two people are dead following a car crash in Wayne County early Saturday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Jeep Grand Cherokee was headed south on Mechanicsburg Road in Wayne Township when it went left of center near Varnes Road around 1:38 a.m. The driver identified as 38-year-old Wooster resident Aaron W. Torrence, apparently over-corrected and went off the right side of the roadway, and the vehicle hit a guardrail and flew into the air before striking an embankment and overturning back onto Varnes.

Both Torrence and his passenger, 39-year-old Tiffany E. Curtiss (also of Wooster) died at the scene. Authorities say they were not wearing seat belts and were both ejected from the Jeep.

This is the third fatal crash in Wayne County in the last nine days. In the latter two, those who lost their lives were not wearing their seat belts.
