2 men killed in crash on I-71 in Medina County: What we know

The crash happened on Thursday night at around 10:12 p.m. in Westfield Township.

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened on Thursday in Medina County. 

According to OSHP, the crash happened at around 10:12 p.m. on I-71 in Westfield Township. 

Officials believe that a Volvo commercial vehicle driving south on I-71 became disabled in the right lane. Moments later, a 2018 Chevrolet Trax traveling south on I-71 struck the Volvo. 

OSHP also noted that an unknown third vehicle, believed to be a maroon or red commercial vehicle, also struck the Volvo, but fled the scene. 

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Mark McGraw of West Salem, and the driver of the Volvo, 68-year-old Daved Brown of Cincinnati, were pronounced dead at the scene. 

OSHP is asking anyone with information on the maroon-colored commercial vehicle to call the Medina Post at 330-725-4921.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Medina County Sheriff's Department, Westfield Township Fire and EMS, Seville Guilford Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Bear's Towing. 

At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
