CLEVELAND — A Wayne County man is dead after he crashed his motorcycle into a pickup truck that was hauling farm equipment in Congress Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

George W. Wood Jr., 60, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on West Britton Road near Maple Valley Drive.

According to the highway patrol, the Burbank man was driving his 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on West Britton Road when he crashed into the back of a 2019 Ford F-250 carrying a "farm implement." The truck was turning east onto the road from a field access lane, troopers said.

Troopers say Wood was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, troopers said.

Troopers are still investigating the crash but alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors.
