Ohio State Highway Patrol: 1 dead after single-vehicle crash in Wayne County

John C. Woodruff was transported to Aultman-Orrville Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

WAYNE COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — A man is dead after losing control of his vehicle causing it to overturn on a Wayne County road according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

At approximately 4:24 p.m. on Tuesday, 71-year-old John C. Woodruff of Orville was traveling eastbound on Burkhart Road in Baughman Township.

Woodruff's Dodge Avenger drifted off the right side of the road and struck a ditch causing the vehicle to overturn "several times".

According to the OSHP, Woodruff was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

Woodruff was transported to Aultman-Orrville Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
