HURON, Ohio — After being closed for two days due to severe storms across the area, Osborn MetroPark in Huron is set to reopen on Saturday.
According to Erie MetroParks, visitors can enjoy the perimeter path and playground starting at 8 a.m. However, officials are urging people to avoid the outlying trails and wooded areas, which still need to be assessed and cleared. The restricted trails are barricaded and will be clearly marked.
Officials closed the park after Wednesday night's storm due to structural damage, downed utility lines and dozens of downed trees. The closure included playgrounds, trails, tennis and pickleball courts, as well as the dog park.
"Erie MetroParks operations staff and volunteers are working hard to clean up the damage, yet it will take time to assess all trails and open the park completely," Erie MetroParks wrote in its statement.
Any residents who find damage in any of the Erie MetroParks are asked to call 419-625-7783 ext. 221 and leave a detailed message of when, what, and where.
