Mansfield police officer, 2 others injured after crash

Officials say the officer was in a marked police car & lights & sirens were activated when the crash occurred.

MANSFIELD, Ohio — A Mansfield police officers is among three injured after a car crash Friday night.

Authorities say Officer Justin Cikity was responding to a call for assistance and was driving east on East 1st Street when the incident occurred. A 2007 Kia apparently entered his lane while going north on Bowers Avenue after stopping for a stop sign.

The driver of the Kia, along with the passenger, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officer Cikity was also taken to the hospital for treatment, and his injuries are also not life-threatening.

The officer was in a marked police car and lights and sirens were activated when the crash occurred, according to police.

State troopers were called to the scene and are handling the investigation.
