CLEVELAND — An Erie County road was shut down for several hours after a fiery collision between a car and a train Saturday night, Ohio state troopers said.

According to a media release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened when a 26-year-old driver tried to cross the railroad tracks on Perkins Avenue near U.S. Route 6 in Perkins Township while the gate bars were coming down just before 10 p.m. The driver's car became stuck between the gates but the driver was able to get out of her car, troopers said.

An oncoming Norfolk Southern train, however, was unable to stop, and hit the car. The 2016 Toyota Scion burst into flames, becoming engulfed and disabling the train.

Troopers said neither the driver nor any Norfolk Southern employees sustained any injuries in the incident.

The highway patrol said the road was closed for around four hours following the crash.
