Several people hurt in Huron County Fair incident

The incident happened at the Rough Truck event, where a participant went into the staging area following a "mechanical malfunction," officials say.

HURON COUNTY, Ohio — Two people were taken to the hospital with severe injuries following an incident at the Huron County Fairgrounds on Friday. 

According to the Townsend Township Fire Department, the incident happened around 10 p.m. at the Rough Truck event, where one of the participants went into the staging area following a "mechanical malfunction."

The Rough Truck contest is for people aged 16 and older with a valid driver's license. The timed event involves driving a truck over obstacles, according to rules posted by the Huron County Fair website.
