According a post to the Dennison Fire Department's Facebook page, the leak was caused when a gas line was cut through on Tuesday morning. After the leak was noticed, several downtown businesses as well as both Claymont Intermediate and Immaculate Conception schools were evacuated while the leak was contained and stopped.

The evacuation order was lifted at 2:15 p.m. after being in place for several hours.

Fire officials have given the all clear for regular activities to resume "unless you have been contacted by the fire department or gas company."
