WAKEMAN, Ohio — A 68-year-old man is dead after falling into a grain bin on Thursday afternoon in Wakeman.
According to the Huron County Emergency Management Agency and Wakeman Fire Department, crews were called to the 4400 block of Butler Road at around 1:30 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, they found Bill Forestor unresponsive in the grain bin, under a large amount of soybeans. Forestor was removed from the bin at approximately 3:20 p.m. and was set to be taken by Metro Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Metro Life Flight doctor.
Several agencies were at the scene to assist Wakeman fire crews, including members of the Vermilion Fire Department, Camden Fire Department, Florence Township and Townsend Township fire departments, the Lorain County Technical Rescue Team, and Huron County Sheriff's Office.
Friends and neighbors of Forestor also assisted with the rescue.
"We wish our sincere condolences to the family during this tragic time," Wakeman Fire Chief David Wilson wrote on the department's Facebook page.
