COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Health Director Stephanie McCloud have named a new Chief Health Opportunity Advisor.
The position will be filled by Jamie Carmichael, a veteran of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (ODMHAS).
A press release from the Ohio Department of Health said that during her time with the ODMHAS, Carmichael was responsible for the communications and public relations between the department and the legislative body in the state.

“I am committed to finding solutions to counteract disparities in health outcomes for all Ohioans,” said Governor DeWine. “I am pleased to have Jamie join the team at the Ohio Department of Health to focus our efforts in this crucial area.”
Before joining the ODMHAS, Carmichael worked with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services for nearly ten years, working to drive policy and change that benefitted minorities across the state.
"This position was created to support the findings and recommendations of the COVID-19 Minority Health Strike Force, which examined the disproportionate impact of the coronavirus on minority and underserved communities, as well as broader health disparities and racial injustices, in order to improve health outcomes," a press release from the Ohio Department of Health reads.
Carmichael will work to advance health measures and equality across Ohio's diverse areas, and work to establish "Ohio as a model for justice, equity, opportunity, and resilience."
