Of the 100,000 jobs Amazon is hiring amid the coronavirus pandemic, 4,600 will come in the Buckeye State.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic leading to a surge in e-commerce sales, Amazon announced that it has added 100,000 jobs to help bolster its staff.

According to Columbus Business First, 4,600 of those jobs will be coming to Ohio, where the online giant possesses a statewide distribution hub and has invested $5 billion. Previously, Amazon had laid claim to 8,500 employees in the Buckeye State, while creating 19,000 indirect jobs according to JobsOhio.

Amazon will also be bumping its pay for employees by $2 an hour through April as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

"(M)any people have been economically impacted as jobs in areas like hospitality, restaurants, and travel are lost or furloughed as part of this crisis," Amazon said in a statement. "We want those people to know we welcome them on our teams until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back."
