This may turn out to be the most popular airline for beer drinkers.
Ever.
Independent craft brewer BrewDog, which is based in Columbus and Scotland, is launching Brewdog Airlines. The new venture features a four-day trip for up to 210 people from London to Columbus on Feb. 21-25 to tour BrewDog’s brewery and visits to The DogHouse Hotel and BrewDog’s beer museum and other breweries in Columbus.
“We took craft beer to the depths of the seas when we brewed an IPA at the bottom of the North Sea. Now, we’re turning to the skies aboard BrewDog Airlines," Brewdog co-founder James Watt said in a press release. "We’re on a mission to open minds and excite people about what craft beer is and can be."
The experience will be like no other, Watt said.
"We’ve redesigned the flight experience for optimum beer enjoyment - from the food to the entertainment, the cabin crew and most of all, the specially brewed high-altitude beer,” he said.
On the plane, visitors will sample a limited-edition beer brewed for high altitudes along with other beers and a food and beer pairing menu.
So, how much is the trip? The cost is $1,600 and the company will give away five trips on social media.
Although the February trip is the only one planned so far, company officials are open to expanding the concept for trips from Columbus to Scotland in the future.
"For now we’re just releasing dates for our maiden voyage, but if there is demand for the journey, we’d love to show more craft beer fans our homes in both Columbus and Aberdeenshire," Brewdog spokesperson Sarah Warman said. "We would love to offer trips from Columbus to our homeland in Scotland to show our extended family where we’re from, but for now we have no scheduled plans for this – if we see enough demand, you never know."
