SANDUSKY, Ohio — A beloved former member of the Erie County Sheriff's Office has passed away.
On Friday, the department announced the death of its retired K9 Max in a post on Facebook. Max was trained in patrol and narcotics detection, serving as a member of the Erie County Sheriff's Office from 2015 through 2021. He then retired to live permanently with his handler, Deputy Dan Orzech and his family. Max is remembered as "a loyal and faithful partner" to Deputy Orzech.
"Max was a valued member of the Sheriff’s Office and he will be missed," the Erie County Sheriff's Office added.
