CINCINNATI — There has been an increase in security at the home of Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance since the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, which happened Saturday at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Sen. Vance is widely considered a top contender as the vice presidential running mate for former President Trump. His pick is expected to be announced very soon as the 2024 Republican National Convention is held this week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Agents with the ATF and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were seen outside of Vance’s home in Cincinnati.
A source tells NBC News that Secret Service was not at Vance’s home. The extra law enforcement presence was a precautionary move.
A spokesperson for Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said the governor had approved state law assistance at the home, according to NBC.
